Writing
As well as my academic writing, I am a columnist, with Professor Karen Sands-O’Connor for Books for Keeps. I have written for The Guardian, The TES, Wasafiri, The Jhalak Review, The Philosopher, Planet, and The Welsh Agenda.
My essay ‘You Can’t Say That! Stories Have to be About White People’ was published first by Media Diversified and then in The Good Immigrant, which was shortlisted for the National Book Award for Non-Fiction. The essay has been used on university courses in education, children’s literature and antiracism and by the Chartered College of Teachers. It has also been in included in an anthology for Key Stage 3 students.
I wrote and presented The Dragon on My Shirt, a documentary series about Black and Asian footballers who have represented Wales.
I have published six books as co-author and co-editor, with more on the way.
I have co-edited special issues of Wasafiri, Ethics and Education, and The Journal of Hip Hop Studies.

Awards
I was awarded the ICPIC Prize for Interpreting Philosophy for/with Children for my essay ‘The Elephant in the Room: Picturebooks, Philosophy for Children and Racism:
